Does Something Really Stay Forever?

As I scrolled through “100 Blog Topics I Hope You Write” I came across number 83 and instantly stopped . “Letting go” it said. This immediately caught my eye, this little phrase that was standing there meant so much. It was totally different than other topics such as “Write about media” or “Books I want to write”. As I googled “Letting go” pictures, quotes, and essays came up. They were all related to letting go of something special or lyrics to sad songs. We don’t really realize the words we say and how much they actually mean. “Letting go” can mean so much, from the simplest things to the most complicated situations in life. We all remember as kids when “Letting go” was just not getting candy or trying to let go of a crayon our friend stole. But as we grow this phrase seems to appear more and more. We let go of people, memories, and things we thought we’d keep forever. “Letting go” can be from the thrill of bungee jumping to the heartbreaks we suffer from. But can we actually really let go? I believe in some cases “Letting go” is just a physical thing, but in depth it’s rather more sophisticated. Can we really let go of memories and people? Can we really move on from things or are we just stuck in this moment. How do we really let go? Letting go physically is different from letting go mentally. The physical part of letting go is rather easy, once you tell yourself you let go, its gone, done and finished. But emotionally letting go, why is this so complex? When we set our minds up for something, we hope, we trust, we look forward to things. But can we even really let go of a past person or memory? People come and go in life, but thing’s tend to stay and it’s how each and every one of us deals with it. From letting go of the most difficult break ups, to losing the closest people in your life. “Letting go” is just one of the toughest things in life. So why do we really let go in life? I think that “Letting go” is just another new chapter, another new perspective, a chance to learn and understand. It’s a way we all connect, everyone has to let go of something in life. If it’s not the crayon maybe a friend moving away, or losing someone you love. It’s how we all deal with it that makes us different. At the end we are all humans, we all have different perspectives on things. But after all we let go of many things. It’s these things in life that shape our personalities and how we look at things. We all have emotions, wants, and needs. It just depends on the decisions we make and how we deal with everything that life throws at us. “Letting go” can be just another way of saying “I’m strong enough to move forward”.
